What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a form of natural healing which has been practiced for centuries.  It gently and effectively maintains health while building up the body's immunity and resistance to disease. It is an excellent antidote to stress and therefore eases stress related conditions.  Relaxation is a  pre-requisite for health. Reflexology stimulation is capable of inducing the alpha state of relaxation, which un-clutters the mind and opens it to tranquility.  It is the most serene level at which healing can effectively take place.  Your response is not related to the severity of any disorders but to your faith in your body's own healing abilities.

  Benefits of Reflexology

The basic principle of the holistic approach is to cure illness by increasing the health of the recipient, thus enabling the body to heal itself.  Reflexology is a holistic complimentary therapy and does not diagnose, treat for a specific ailment, and is not a substitute for medical treatment.

 Reflexology can help:

· Maintain vigor

· Stimulate the brain

· Relieve muscle pain

· Alleviate sleeplessness

· Increase energy level

· Release tension

· Reduce stress

 What can I expect?

You will lie on your back on a massage table, face up, with your shoes and socks removed.  You will be made comfortable with a blanket and soft music. Lotion will be applied to your feet during session. The physical act of applying specific alternating pressure using thumb, finger and hand techniques to your feet, result in stress reduction which causes a physiological change in the body.   It will be a gentle, but firm, pressure within your comfort zone.

 How long does it take?

Regular treatments (one session) last approximately 60 minutes.

  What will I feel?

Pain is NOT gain in Reflexology, however, tender spots will indicate areas that need extra attention.  Pressure should be firm, but not uncomfortable.  Many clients fall asleep during treatment.
